What are the applications of plasma spraying technology in traditional fields?

Plasma spraying technology has been widely used in traditional fields such as wear-resistant coatings and corrosion-resistant coatings. Since the 1950s, its application fields have expanded from aerospace to steel industry, automobile manufacturing, petrochemicals, textile machinery, shipbuilding and other fields. In recent years, the application of plasma spraying technology in the fields of nano coatings, gradient functional materials, superconducting coatings, and biological functional coatings has been increasingly valued.

1. Nano coating materials

Under a load of 40-60N, the wear rate of the nano coating is only 1/6 of that of the conventional coating. Nanotechnology indicates that the coating has a dual state microstructure and exhibits unique and excellent performance. The peel resistance exhibited by indentation cracking resistance, bending, and cupping tests is much higher. TiO2 nanoparticles transform from amorphous to rutile and rutile structures. The coating exhibits good injection current and electrochemical stability. Chen Huang et al. prepared zirconia nano coatings on stainless steel substrates using atmospheric plasma spraying technology. The coating structure is dense, with a porosity of about 7%. The bonding strength between the coating and the substrate is 45MPa, which is significantly better than the bonding strength between traditional zirconia coatings and the substrate.
