From the perspective of future development trends, the research on supersonic spraying system engineering will receive increasing attention from people. At present, many countries have strengthened their research on supersonic spraying system engineering, starting from failure analysis, optimizing surface pretreatment, spraying equipment, spraying materials and spraying processes, and formulating thermal spraying implementation process plans. In the process of development, thermal spraying technology has intersected and penetrated with other disciplines to form new surface treatment processes. Future thermal spraying technology may develop in the following areas:
(1) The selection of spraying materials: flame spraying technology, plasma spraying technology, and supersonic flame spraying technology will also be the mainstream of market demand. The selection of spraying materials for arc spraying technology and cold spraying technology has certain limitations, but in the future, with the progress and updates of technology, it will be further expanded.
(2) The bonding strength between coating and substrate: Cold spraying, supersonic flame spraying, supersonic plasma spraying, LPPS-TF coating, and other methods with relatively high bonding strength with substrate will play a greater role.
(3) In terms of basic theoretical research, thermal spraying technology is an interdisciplinary and highly interdisciplinary field. Due to the influence of parameters such as high temperature, high speed, and mechanical non-uniformity, the research on the basic theory of thermal spraying technology faces enormous difficulties, and the study of basic theory is particularly important.
(4) In the research and development of new spray materials, the overall development trend of thermal spray materials is that the development of new materials such as coating composition composite with low impurities, structural ultrafine nano, nanostructure composite, and multi alloy is a hot research topic.
(5) In terms of spray coating technology and equipment research and development, the key to improving coating quality and expanding spray materials is to increase the energy and speed of spray particles. Therefore, the improvement and development of thermal spraying technology and equipment should move towards high-energy and high-speed direction.
(6) Expanding new application areas: Thermal spraying technology has the characteristics of interpenetration and interconnection with other disciplines. Utilizing this characteristic, continuously developing new thermal spraying technologies and exploring new application areas for thermal spraying technology. The combination of thermal spraying technology with other related technologies is an effective way to explore and develop new application areas of thermal spraying.
